MID-JAN. The first 2 weeks of 2017 have been great to speak. A few catch-ups with friends and heading out to try some really amazing food at different places, I’m lucky to have spent good times with the best company in the past couple of weeks.
I finally met up with the girls (Dearest Jules is back from her exchange!!) last week. Neon Pigeon is a small, quaint yet upbeat restaurant-bar tucked at the corner of Keong Siak. They serve a variety of Chinese-Japanese fusion tapas in servings of for 2 or for 4. My favourites were the crab cakes and soft-shell crab bao. I will be back to have a go at their cocktails.
CURE features an Omakase menu where you have a choice of 5 or 8 courses. The boyfriend (being so sweet), brought me here on a rather impromptu basis. I was expecting the 5-course but him being his chef self, ordered the 8-course eventually. Their starters were lovely-the squid ink cracker with aioli was sooo good. Of the 8 courses, the beef croquette in dashi consommé was the best of the lot for both of us. However, for the overall price, we would have expected a slightly higher quality of ingredients or cooking for the rest of the courses. Nonetheless for the experience, its definitely worth a shot if you’re looking for your next date venue.
School has started, and work has never stopped. The upcoming assignment deadlines coupled with a busy work schedule has been a bit of a headache to plan, but still manageable. I’m just thankful for people who are always here to support me.
Next up will be a couple more food posts-going places thanks to Le Chef Bf, HEH!
