SPATHE. Headed to Spathe Public House with mum & bro last Sunday for brunch! They were full the previous weekend but we managed to get a table last sunday. I’m guessing it was partly due to the heavy downpour which rendered basically any other form of transport besides by car, very inconvenient.
We were given a lovely table in the middle of the café with full view of the entire place. They have a weekend brunch menu which differs from their regular weekday food menu. Mum decided to go with their eggs royal which i thought was really good-the brioche bread was soft and chewy, and their hollandaise was one of my favorites thus far. Bro had their homemade salt beef sandwich on ciabatta. The beef was akin to pulled pork(except it’s beef) that was tender and tasty. It also came with (very addictive) garlic fries that everyone had to grab more then a few to munch on.
I decided to go with their waffles that i heard was one of their signatures, and had their crispy chicken leg waffle with mornay sauce. I loved their waffles! The chicken was tender and well marinated, and went really well with their mornay sauce on slightly airy, crispy waffles.
We also had 3 desserts to share-a raspberry chocolate mousse, lemon meringue tart, and sticky date pudding with toffee sauce. I enjoyed the former two, i thought the sticky date pudding was a little too sweet for my liking. We also had 2 rounds of coffee each because they serve really good coffee, one of the best i’ve had in my opinion. I’m surely heading back here to try more renditions of their waffles and the other food items they have along with more of their coffee.
